And just like that...

April 29, 2016

April 22!!! That's the day I will forever know as your birthday!!! My little Jensen Bridge Keffeler was born @ 9:21 pm weighing 8lbs 1.5 ounces and 20 inches long!! You were a big baby my love! Exactly 2 lbs bigger than your brother! Whoa :)

Your story:
Henley and I were at home playing with his toys. I was sitting on the couch and I got up and felt like I had to use the bathroom. But once I stood up I had some fluids come out. I thought it was a small amount and normal. I had just called to try to get my induction moved to next Friday. They weren't able to move me. Anyway, I called Aaron to tell him they couldn't move my appt. A few min later, I felt a little more liquid coming out but it still wasn't enough to alarm me. I went to change my clothes and curl my hair just in case I was to go anywhere. I called Ashley Taylor a few times and she told me to monitor the fluids for the next few min and to call Aaron to let him know I was doing that but not to rush home. I didn't want to freak him out or have him rush home if I was just leaking from my bladder. Anyway I called him and the next hour was a whirlwind. He was heading home regardless. Henley came and sat on my lap while I was curling my hair and burned his finger on my curling iron. I stopped to put burn cream on him and as soon as I picked him up, gush! A lot more fluids came out. I knew then that my water broke. I called Aaron back and told him that it was for sure my water and to meet me at the hospital. I packed up Henley, talked to mom and Bird and headed to St. Lukes.
Aaron met me in the parking lot. Parked the cars. And met me upstairs in labor and delivery. Sharon met us up there and took Henley with her. I was admitted and taken back to get checked. By this time it was 1pm and I still hadn't had a single contraction. I was really surprised. They made sure it was my water that broke and then took me to my room. By 3pm they started me on Pitocin to get the contractions going. I felt every single one of them! They weren't as strong at first and then they were excruciatingly painful. By 6pm I was given an epidural. Finally your Abuelita arrived!! Such relief. She got there just in time to see me totally relaxed :) When I was given the epidural I was laying more on my left side. So my right side didn't get as numb. So when it came time to start pushing I felt more pressure on my right side. But I was also very ticklish for some reason!! So there were quite a few times that I laughed during the pushing from where the nurses were pressing. It was pretty funny. I started pushing around 8:45 and @ 9:21 you were born!!!
They announced it was a boy and the first thing I said to Aaron was "you got your boys!!!" We were so excited!! I knew for a long time you were a boy. I fell in love the moment I saw you. I cried the happiest of tears! You're my little rock star baby! You did so great! And are so perfect!
We love you so much and couldn't be happier to have you in our lives!! This first week has really been better than we could have hoped for! Henley loves you so much. He constantly pats your head and rubs on you. It's more than we expected from him and he's just blown us away with his gentleness with you. He loves you so much already! And so do we! Welcome to the crew Jensen!!
